Important Timelines

  • May 10 – May 19: Accepting band submissions via the form below.
  • May 22: Bands listed on this website for fan voting to select the Battle of the Bands lineup.
  • May 29: Fan voting ends this night at midnight.
  • May 30: Battle of the Bands Lineup Announced!
  • June 15: Battle of the Bands at Surly Brewing Co. in Minneapolis
  • August 2: Battle of the Bands winner opens on Friday at Basilica Block Party

 

Rules for the June 15th Battle of the Bands

  • Age Requirement: All band members (and optional roadie) must be 21+ to enter.
  • Arrival: All bands and equipment must arrive at SURLY BREWING CO. during their designated load in time. If you are late, you will be disqualified, unless the stage manager is able to add your band to the end of the line up.
  • Roadies: Bands may bring one roadie to assist them with set-up and break-down, that person must also be listed on the registration form.
  • Set-Changes: There are 20 minute set-changes allotted. In the event that a set-change runs long, the band’s set time will need to be shortened to make up for the delay.
  • Displays: No banners or backdrops.
  • Engineers: All bands must use house sound engineers. No exceptions.
  • Stage Manager: We will provide a stage manager to assist with set-up and tear-down for each band. Stage manager will dictate the schedule.
  • Drums and Bass Amp: BBP will provide a 5-piece professional drum kit with cymbals, and an Ampeg SVT bass amp with cabinet.  Acts should plan to bring all other instruments and amps that are needed for their performance but will not be allowed to use their own drums or bass rig.  Bands are allowed to bring their own snares, cymbals and kick pedal.
  • Sound System: BBP will provide a professional sound system and stage monitor system with engineers.
  • Stage Plot: It is imperative that we get your stage plot and input list in advance so that we can streamline the changeovers and stay on schedule.
